Isaiah 55:10-11

'As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,  so is My word that goes out from My mouth:  It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.'

  THE WORD FOR TODAY

1 Peter 2:9

'But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.'

Announcements

THE FULL FLAME SERIES

Integrity Media and Christ for All Nations has produced and provided for us (free of charge) a wonderful video series called "Full Flame", to motivate us all to fully engage in sharing the love of God with a lost and dying world Last week we saw the two parts of session 6 which were entitled, "Living In The Miraculous" and "The Power of Proclamation".  The titles for today's session are "The Man Is The Message" and "The Revival Detonator" with scenes from Germany and the United Kingdom.

PRAYING FOR AMERICA

The days leading up to an election are crucial days for prayer in America.  Therefore, we have joined with other churches all over the country in "30 Days of Prayer", using a daily guide called "Prayer Map of America".  This thirty day period of intense intercession started on October 1st for us.  If you were unaware and would like to join us in this effort, we still have some copies on the south foyer table.  In those 30 days, we will visit, through intercession, every State, every territory and our Nation's Capital as well.

OUR ROLE IN CIVIL GOVERNMENT

According to David Barton in "The Role of Pastors & Christians in Civil Government", American Christians have not taken their voting stewardship seriously in recent years.  There are an estimated 60 million evangelicals in America but in the 2000 presidential election, only 15 million voted, and 24 million of those sixty million evangelicals weren't even registered to vote.  David concluded his book with these words.  "Psalm 33:12 declares that blessed is that nation whose God is the Lord; this nation has been blessed from its beginning, and if America does not stay blessed, it will be because Christians did not stay involved.  Get involved – make a positive difference in America again!"  See you at the polls November 4th.

MEN OF GIDEON

The next session in a series of men's fellowship gatherings led by Stanley Jackson and Ron Wilson will be held at Tri-Rivers Vocational School in Marion on Monday, October 13th.  William White will be the featured speaker and the meeting starts at 7 p.m.  Light refreshments will be available from 6:30 to 7 p.m. for those who would like to come early for fellowship.  For more information, check out their website at www.menofgideon.org.

C.C.C. HARVEST FEST

The Activities Committee has scheduled a Harvest Fest Fellowship for the church that will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 3 to 8 p.m.  A number of outdoor games are being planned from 3 to 5 p.m. and a meal will be served at 5.  Hayrides and a continual campfire fellowship with singing and smores will be taking place from 6 to 8 p.m.  The church will be providing chili, cornbread and beverage and we're asking each family unit to bring a dessert to share with all.  If you have questions or would like to volunteer, see Susan Holzwart.  We hope you'll be able to join us for a great night of fellowship.

OUR MONTHLY MISSION COMMITMENT

Every year, in our September business meeting, we review and adjust accordingly our monthly commitment to the missionary efforts we support.  The only change we made this year was an increase for Wyandot Cares, from $50 to $100 per month.  Our missionary commitment for the year, not counting special offerings or other local efforts, stands at $1375 a month.  Our updated commitment has been posted on our communications board for those who would like to know the breakdown.  Praise God for all they're doing in the field.

UPWARD BASKETBALL & CHEERLEADING

Trinity Evangelical U.M.C. is now receiving registrations for grade school boys and girls who would like to participate in their Upward basketball & cheerleading program.  The early registration cost is $50 per child but it must be in by October 17th.  The cost will be $70 per child after that.  Their registration forms can be picked up from our south foyer table.  If you have questions about the program, call Steve Bare at 419-310-0693 or Tracey Bollinger at 419-927-4205.

FINAL NOTES AND REMINDERS

1. October is Respect Life Month.  Please keep praying and speaking up for those who can't speak for themselves.
