Community Christian Center is the result of a sovereign work of God. The church was established in September of 1984 after a number of local Christian families had requested the aid and support of the Marion Christian Center. Many of these Christian families had been coming together in fellowship on a regular basis for several years.
In the spring of 1984 Pastor John Watson of Marion Christian Center and his associate minister Bill Williamson started leading Bible study meetings in the basement of the medical building on North Sandusky St. These studies were based upon the Bible using a workbook entitled, "Bible Studies for a Firm Foundation", by Bob and Rose Weiner. As the summer progressed, it became increasingly evident that God was raising up a new local church.
The first business meeting was conducted in August, beginning the process of establishing a new local church. William Alan Williamson was selected as the Pastor of the new church and the first Sunday morning meeting was scheduled for September 16. Juanita Rieser was chosen for the position of treasurer and Jeannette Rhodes became the secretary of the organization. 75 people attended the first Sunday morning meeting and the attendance continued to grow as the weeks went by. More than one hundred were gathering for Church by the first of October
Within four months we had outgrown the space we had to use at the medical building and moved to The Little Theatre at the Upper Sandusky High School where we met for the next three years. During that third year, we were building our present building. We did most of the work ourselves and everything was paid for when we moved in, November 1987.
As the church continued to grow, our Sunday school department did too and we were compelled to add two wings with eight more classrooms in 1991. The original building was 10,000 square feet and wings added another 5,000 square feet.
