Our Beginning and
Our Church Goals

When August came around, we conducted our first business meeting and began the process of establishing a new local church.  William Alan Williamson was selected as the Pastor, Juanita Rieser was chosen for the position of treasurer, Jeannette Rhodes became the secretary of the organization, and our first Sunday morning service was scheduled for September 16.  At our first service, 75 people attended and the attendance continued to grow weekly.  And by October, more than one hundred people gathered in our small space to praise our Savor and Lord, Jesus Christ.  AMAZING!

In four months' time, we had outgrown our space at the medical building and moved to The Little Theater at the Upper Sandusky High School where we met for the next three years. And, during the third year, we were building our very own building. Because of dedicated people doing most of the work, our new Community Christian Center was paid in full when we moved in, November 1987.

As the church continued to grow, our Sunday school department grew also.  So in 1991, two wings with eight more classrooms were added making the original 10,000 square feet building into a 15,000 square foot building.

Our Church Goals

  • To reach people with the knowledge of Christ's saving power, so that each person can put his full faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9

  • To build Christ's character in individuals, marriages and families.

  • To teach the total benefits that Jesus purchased on the cross. Thus by faith each person can inherit the promises of God.  Hebrews 6:12

  • To explain and apply God's principles of financial freedom in the church so each individual can practice wise stewardship of finances.

  • To help each Christian discover their spiritual gift and area of ministry so that their service to the Lord and the brethren can actually be directed by the Holy Spirit. 1Cor. 12

  • To corporately express, as a local fellowship, the kingdom of God on earth, demonstrating the love and unity among God's people and supernatural power of God's Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17

  • To provide close fellowship through small groups whereby we can serve and bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

  • To train faithful people who will rise up into positions of leadership in the church, locally and abroad, so that the Word of the Lord is continually being multiplied generation to generation.  2 Timothy 2:2

  • To provide in brief: pastoral care, feeding, worship opportunities, fellowship, and evangelism (locally and missions).                                                                                   â€‹â€‹

Community Christian Center is the result of a sovereign work of God.  The church was established September of 1984 after a number of local Christian families requested the aid and support of the Marion Christian Center.  Many of these Christian families had been coming together in fellowship on a regular basis for several years.

In the spring of 1984, Marion Christian Center’s Pastor, John Watson and his associate minister Bill Williamson, began leading a Bible study in the basement of the medical building on North Sandusky Ave.  They studied the Bible using a workbook entitled, "Bible Studies for a Firm Foundation", by Bob and Rose Weiner.  As the summer progressed, it was evident that God was raising up a new local church.
